Pricing and Tagging
After you have registered
as a consignor, it is time to get started!
Gather and organize your items
The more organized
you are, the quicker tagging and Drop Off will be! As best
you can, organize your clothing items by Gender and Size
before you start.
Pricing your items
Our consignors set
their own prices. We suggest
25-30% of the retail price. However, double strollers, outdoor
play equipment, new items with tags still on, or "like
new" designer brands sometimes sell for closer to 40-50%
of the original price.
Keep in mind our shoppers
are looking for bargains, so price to sell. Sellers who
price reasonably and allow items to be discounted on half-price
day generally sell a high percentage of their items.
For now, there is no
limit on how many total items you can bring to the sale
as long as they all meet our quality standards.
All our items must
be priced at $1.00 increments.
Computer
Entry (It's easy & quick & fun!)
Here We Grow Again
uses a point of sale system called My Consignment Manager
that allows you to enter your items on the computer. Each
item's tag will print out with a barcode--an efficient way
to sell your items and also allow you the ability to check
your sales online each evening!
Remember, first create
an account by registering as a consignor. You will be asked
for your name, address and email, then you will choose a
password and be assigned a Consignor ID (write these down!).
Now it's time to tag
those items! Gather your clothing in a neat pile next to
your computer.

-
Price
-select the item's price (use the pull-down menu)
-
Discount
-select Yes if you would like your item to be sold at
50% off the last day of the sale.
-
Donate
-select Yes if you would like to donate this item if it
does not sell.
-
Size
-Choose the size from the pull-down menu. Select the "blank"
choice for toys and non-sized items.
-
Description
-Type your description. Try not to use too many capital
letters as it may take up more space than allowed.
-
Category
-Choose your item's category. (Category will not appear
on final printed tag--it is used for our internal purposes
only.)
-
Click
on "Add Item" or click "Enter"
and the system adds your item to the bottom of the screen
and automatically saves it.
Please note: If the
system remains idle for 15-20 minutes, it will time out.
Don't worry! Your items are still in the database and can
be accessed via the Manage Inventory Screen.
Tagging tips:
-
Sorting
your items by Gender and Size before you sit down to enter
them online will save you time. The system remembers all
previous information entered except price, so by having
them sorted you can take advantage of the pre-filled fields
and re-enter only price and description fields...thus
making your tag time even more efficient!
-
There
are two description fields on each tag. Type the Name
Brand in the first field and then the type of item in
the second field. For example: "Gymboree" in
first field, "2-Piece floral top and skirt"
in second field.
-
Do
not use all caps when entering descriptions on tags as
this may cause you to overrun the tag borders and you
will have to edit and reprint tags.
-
If
you make an error or need to correct an item, you can
either click "Edit Item" or go to the Manager
Inventory Tab.
-
If
you remove an item from your account, the system will
delete this item permanently and you will have a break
in your numbered items. If you want to keep track of exactly
how many items you are selling, you may choose to just
"Edit" this item instead.
-
Make
sure your tags are printed on white cardstock paper. Regular
copy paper will not hold up against our crowd of shoppers!
-
Your
printer must use normal toner (no dot matrix printers)
-
Adjust
your printing format to Landscape/Horizontal as tags will
print that direction.
-
Use
Normal or Draft print setting. Best quality is too dark
and causes barcodes to bleed. Test print one page of tags
to make sure the barcodes are crisp and clear. You should
be able to see white lines between the barcode. If lines
bleed together, then reprint using a lower quality print.
-
If
you have a color printer, make sure you select "Black
cartridge only" from the printing properties screen.
Otherwise the tags can appear purple and blurry.
-
Select
the items you want to print. Just click in the box next
to the item or click on the "Check All" box.
You may choose to conserve paper and print in increments
of 8 as we have 8 tags to a page.
- When you are ready
to print, just go to the Print Tags tab and follow the instructions.
Once your tags are
printed it is time to attach them to your items! Here
We Grow Again offers our consignors the option to use
either a tagging gun or safety pins to secure your tags
on items. Tagging guns are a faster and easier way to tag
your items. Don't have a tagging gun and want to try it?
Check out our "Grow With
Us" Consignor Starter Kit.
When attaching tags
to items make sure the description matches the item.
Do not tape over the
barcode! Our scanning cannot read through tape.
Clothing
-
We
accept all children's clothing in sizes newborn up to
boys size 20 and girls size 16.
-
Sleepers
sell best when two or three are safety pinned together
on one hanger. You may also bag sleepers instead of hanging
them.
-
All
clothing must be on wire hangers. Check with your local
dry cleaner as many provide them for free! (Although not
required, if you choose to use child-sized wire hangers
on infant items, they are sold at Wal-Mart.)
-
Please
safety pin all items of a set together so that they can
be viewed without
unpinning them.
-
Tags
should be safety pinned to the garment's left shoulder
(on your right as you look at the item). Do not use tape
or straight pins on clothing. Use large safety pins to
pin on the tags. Note: If using a tagging gun to secure
tags, please attach tags to the label of your clothing
items or through the back of the item (not to the front
left of the item like a safety pin).
-
The
hanger hook should face the left (like a question mark).
-
Please
only bring your like-new shoes.
-
Tie
the shoes together and attach tag with another tie or
string.
-
If
the shoes have no place to tie, then place the shoes inside
a Ziploc bag and tape the tag to the outside of the bag
(remember, do not tape over barcode).
Bedding
-
If
possible, please package bedding sets together in a clear
plastic bag.
-
For
single pieces, place them in a Ziploc bag with the tag
taped to the outside.
Loose Items
For smaller items like baby bottles, rattles, socks, bibs,
bows, etc, please group them together appropriately in Ziploc
bags with tag taped to the outside.
Toys,
Games, Furniture, Equipment
-
Must
be clean and in working order with batteries in them.
-
Attach
small parts and to the toy/equipment in Ziploc bags.
-
Check
game and puzzles to make sure all pieces are included.
-
Puzzles,
books, videos and small toys that are not in boxes should
be put in Ziploc bags.
-
Puzzles
should be wrapped securely in clear Saran wrap with the
tag taped to the outside with clear packing tape, to keep
the pieces intact.
Car Seats
We do not accept car seats older than 5 years. Visit the
Consumer Product Safety Commission at www.cpsc.gov
or call 1-800-638-2772 for recall information.
Furniture
Furniture sells well! Don't forget those cribs, beds, kids'
dressers, high chairs, changing tables, swings, kitchen
sets, kid tables and chair sets and Little Tikes equipment.
Make sure to secure the tag to an easy-to-read location.
Returning
Consignors
Thanks for consigning with us again! Here are some tips
if you would like to transfer unsold items from our Fall
2008 sale to our Spring 2009 sale.
-
Log In for the Spring sale
-
Select
"Manage Inventory"
-
Select
"All Items" under Search Criteria
-
Select
"Here We Grow Again/Fall/2008"
-
Then
hit "Generate Items List"
-
Check
any items you would like to transfer to the Spring 09
sale.
-
Look
under the "Item Transfers" blue bar. On the
right hand box choose "Select Consignment" and
change to "Here We Grow Again/Spring/2009"
-
Then
click on "Transfer Items to Consignment"
-
You
can choose to leave on the existing tag from the Fall
Sale or reprint your tag--either works. Just click "Continue."
You
are done!
After you have transferred your items, return to "Manage
Inventory" and select "All Items" and "Spring
2009 sale." You will see all your transferred items
and are now ready to enter more items for the Spring sale!!
Just a note about item numbers: If you transfer items from
the Fall sale, any newly-entered items will begin with an
item number that follows your highest-numbered item. This
is fine! If you do not have any items to transfer to the
new sale, or if you want to re-enter your items, and you
want to start again with Item #1 then you:
-
Go to "Manage Inventory
-
Select
"All Items"
-
Select
"Fall 08 sale"
-
Then
"Generate List"
-
Once list is generated, click on "Check All"
-
Then
select "Remove Item(s)" from the upper right
hand section
-
Once
items have been removed, click on "Reset Item Number"
at the top of the Manage Inventory page. You can then
start again with Item #1 for the Spring sale.
